County, Lake Los Angeles Zoning Study Project |
During the first quarter of 2003. The Los Angeles County Regional Planning Department came to the Lake Los Angeles Rural Town Council with an opportunity. The County invited this community to participate in their regional planning department zoning study project. The Rural Town Council on behalf of the community eagerly accepted the invitation. This was a significant opportunity for Lake Los Angeles to play a vital, active, roll in planning the future and direction of this community. Los Angeles County, Regional Planning Departments Opportunity Unfortunately, many months later the Rural Town Council was still unable to form a committee and get the zoning study project started. The timeline the Regional Planning Department had established for the zoning project was rapidly fading away. Early in the fourth quarter of 2003. The lake Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce met in a special session. The Chamber was fully aware of the problems within the existing Rural Town Council. It was decided that the zoning study project was too important to the future of this community to be left un-attended. The Chamber unanimously voted to relive the Rural Town Council of this responsibility and adopted the Zoning Study Project. A committee was formed and work on the project began immediately. Lake Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce Takes Over In January 2004 a new improved Town Council was seated. Members from the chamber of commerce, the new town council and numerous community volunteers on the zoning committee, worked diligently for several months. On July 30th 2004 the chamber and town council approved the findings of the Lake Los Angeles Zoning Committee. Upon approval, the zoning committees finding were submitted to the Los Angeles County Regional Planning Department for inclusion in the countywide study. Lake Los Angeles Zoning Study Summary of Findings When the L.A. County Regional Planning Departments response is received it will be presented to the community during the next available, regularly scheduled meeting. Sincerely The Lake Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce |
