D.Sorensen Community Park: Our three and a half
acre Community Park is nestled behind the majestic rocky buttes. It offers
BBQ and Picnic areas, horseshoe pits, extensive state-of-the-art playground
and bathroom facilities. Various community events are held at the park
including Lake LA Days. Phase II of Sorensen Park, will include six acres
for a multi-purpose center, basketball courts, horse trails and baseball
fields. Park is located at Avenue P in Lake Los Angeles. The parks is

| Saddleback Butte State Park:The 2,955-acre state park surrounding Saddleback Butte was created in 1960 to protect the butte. This park also preserves examples of native Joshua tree woodlands, desert vegetation, and animals that were once common throughout this high desert area. | ![]() |
| The Antelope Valley Indian Museum: The museum stands against towering rock formations in the Mojave Desert, as large boulders become a portion of its interior. Timbers from Joshua trees cover supports for its roof. This beautiful folk art structure is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visitors will find the history of the museum and the collections it houses, both colorful and varied. The museum is open from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm every weekend from the end of September through the middle of June. Entry Fee: Adults $1.00 kids under 16 are free. | ![]() |
| Club Ed Film Set: Lake Los Angeles is home to several movie sets. Club Ed was built in 1990 for the film: EYE OF THE STORM. The main structures included a classic American diner, gas station, auto parts store and motel with pool – all circa 1940/50’s California desert and Route 66 appearance. Many celebrities (i.e., Tom Hanks, Mick Jagger, Jennifer Lopez, Dennis Hopper and David Spade to name a few) have been seen during the filming of movies, commercials, music videos and photo shoots. | ![]() |
| Mount Carmel Retreat Center: Mount Carmel Retreat Center is part of Mount Carmel in the Desert, a 240-acre spiritual oasis located in the community of Lake Los Angeles. Home of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart, religious services, and Seminars are held weekly on the grounds. Visitors are welcome to visit the Gift Shop, attend Youth Retreats, and children’s summer camp. Pre-school and Kindergarten are available for small children throughout the year. | Alpine Butte Wildlife Sanctuary: Activities include bird watching, hiking and horseback riding. Visitors can view spectacular floral displays normally in bloom between mid-March and late May. Wildlife seen on the preserves includes horned lizards, chuckwallas, rattlesnakes, majestic prairie falcons and golden eagles. In the spring, Joshua trees and other large shrubs provide nesting sites for a variety of songbirds. Other protected animals here are the kit fox, desert tortoise and Mojave ground squirrel. All areas are closed to camping and absolutely no vehicle entry. | ![]() |

Big Rock Creek: Fishing is only 15 minutes away from Lake Los Angeles. Big Rock Creek lies in the Angeles National Forest on the north side of the San Gabriel Mountains, and is a part of the Tujunga Res. system. From spring through winter, rainbow trout is regularly stocked in the creek by the Department of Fish and Game. |
