Are you looking for some family fun? Well, October is shaping up to be a “fun.tastic” month for Lake L.A. residents! The Lake Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, the Lake Los Angeles Trail Riders, and Twin Lakes Community Church are putting on individual family events throughout the month with a common “Harvest Fest” theme.
Lake L.A. Day October Fest:
On Saturday, October 23rd, the Lake Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce will host “Lake L.A. Day-October Fest Parade and Festival.”
The parade, entitled “Harvest on Parade”, will begin at 170th Street East and Avenue O and travel south. Parade entry fee is $10.00, with applications available at Hemme Hay and Feed, Lake LA Dairy, Lake LA Auto Parts Store and Service Center. Parade Sponsors, cost $25.00, will include a business card or family name printed in the program, business or family name announced during the parade. All organizations, clubs, businesses, and sports groups are welcomed to attend. For more information call Scott Lezak or Judy Kunkel at (661) 264-2786.
The Lake L.A. Day October Fest will begin immediately after the parade at Stephen D. Sorensen Park and end at 8:00pm. The festival will feature local entertainment, games, community booths, and plenty of fun for the entire family. The cost for a festival booth (only) is $25.00, a package deal of: Parade entry, sponsorship of the festival (which will be included in the program) and Booth will cost $35.00. Halloween Horse and Pet Costume Contest:
The Lake Los Angeles Trail Riders Equestrian Club will be hosting a Halloween Horse and Pet Costume Contest on Saturday October 30th. The event will be held on the West undeveloped lot of Stephen D. Sorensen Park. Sign ups are at 1:00 pm and the contest begins at 2:00, pre-entry is encouraged. Dress yourself and your pet, in costume and come have fun. A Bar-B-Que, snacks and drinks will be available. Contest will include a horse contest in three categories Kids 0-12, Teens 13-17 years old, Adult 18 and up, and a separate category of “other Pets”. Twin Lakes Community Church will be hosting two wonderful events, “The Pumpkin Patch” and the “Harvest Festival!”
The Pumpkin Patch:
The Pumpkin Patch will be open on Sunday October 10th thru Sunday October 31st; Hours are Monday through Friday from Noon- to 8:00 P.M. Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be a photo Op set up, for people who want to bring a camera, and story time. Prices will be from $2.00 to $35.00 depending on size. This is a church fundraiser to benefit community ministries.
Twin Lakes Harvest Festival:
The Annual Twin Lakes Community Harvest Festival, which has delighted up to 1500 children every year, is back by popular demand! It will be held at Twin Lakes Community Church on Sunday, October 31st from 5:00-9:00pm. This event has serviced our community as an alternative to “Halloween Trick or Treating,” and is shaping up to be a spectacular night! There will be free carnival games for the kids, a cakewalk, bounce house, face painting, story telling, lots of candy and prizes. They will also be selling hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and sodas as well as glow necklaces and bracelets. All are welcome to attend this wonderful event. Get involved; all events are open for volunteers and donations. Lets make this a wonderful family fun filled time of Harvest!!!!
